The Toyota Land Cruiser is the stuff of legends. The original was built for the Japanese military in 1951, and the Toyota Motor Corporation's signature SUV has been unstoppable ever since. Note that this is rather emphatically not a crossover. It's an honest-to-goodness body-on-frame SUV that, for all its luxury, is still capable of going anywhere and doing darn near anything. It's one of our favorites here at Keyes Toyota.
2017 Toyota Land Cruiser Details
The evolution of the Toyota Land Cruiser is similar to its few competitors in the segment. It started out rugged, but don't let the leather seats in the current model fool you. It may have become a luxury vehicle in recent years, but it's still a point of pride that this is a fully capable SUV.
The power train pairs a highly capable 5.7 liter V8 engine (with 381 horsepower and 401 lb.-ft. of torque) and an eight-speed automatic transmission. It's not the most spry vehicle out there, but what it lacks in agility it makes up for in sheer brawn. If you take it off-road and have the chance to marvel at how capable it is on mud, rocks, snow, or any other awful conditions you can think to drive in, you're reminded that a lot of time went into getting this vehicle just right.
2017 Toyota Land Cruiser Safety and Special Features
This is a monospec vehicle. That means unlike other new Toyota vehicles, there are no trim levels. There's just one Toyota Land Cruiser, and what you see is what you get. With that said, it's a good thing this SUV is as large as it is, because it comes fully loaded.
Neither the NHTSA nor the IIHS have tested the 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser. However, between its robust build and its suite of safety features that includes both the Toyota Star Safety System and Toyota Safety Sense P, Safety Connect, parking assist features, and more, all as standard equipment.
Many convenience and entertainment features also come standard. These include a rear-seat DVD player with two 11.6-inch screens, an Enhanced Multi-Terrain Monitor, Toyota Entune infotainment, and Qi wireless charging.
Buying a 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser at Keyes Toyota
Many new Toyota cars, like the Toyota Camry and Toyota Corolla, have earned good reputations with Los Angeles, CA drivers and with car owners the world over. The Toyota Land Cruiser belongs in another class altogether. It has a heritage that spans seven decades, and it's nothing short of a legend.
It won't be everyone's cup of tea - we have the smaller 2017 Toyota RAV-4, or the sporty Toyota 86 for a reason - but for a certain kind of buyer, who wants luxury combined with performance that never compromises, nothing but the 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser will do. See it at Keyes Toyota by visiting 5855 Van Nuys Blvd in Van Nuys, CA today.
