2018 Toyota 4Runner Review by Keyes Toyota

2018 4runner

The Toyota 4Runner represents a vanishing breed. It’s a real SUV in a segment clogged with crossovers calling themselves SUVs. Those crossovers don’t have this kind of power, nor do they offer this kind of versatility to Los Angeles drivers. Keyes Toyota knows sometimes you need the genuine article.

2018 Toyota 4Runner Details

The 2018 Toyota 4Runner looks awfully familiar. That’s because just about everything here — aside from wider availability of 20-inch wheels and a slightly expanded color palette on select trims — is identical to last year’s model.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. After all, when you’re packing 270 horsepower, 278 lb.-ft. of torque, and a 5,000 pound towing capacity when properly equipped, you have options you wouldn’t have behind the wheel of many other SUVs.

We still prefer the TRD Off-Road and Off-Road Premium trims. They’re specifically built for off-road use, though the SR5 and SR5 Premium trims are also plenty competent in poor driving conditions. You can’t really go wrong with a new Toyota SUV, but you can go places with the Toyota 4Runner that you couldn’t with a Toyota C-HR.

2018 Toyota 4Runner Special Features

Having an SUV built the old-fashioned way is a double-edged sword. We’ll admit that you won’t find the same smooth road manners here that you’d get in a Toyota RAV4. The Toyota 4Runner is a bruiser.

But there’s an upside, too. There’s ample space for your stuff (ranging from 9 cubic feet to 88 cubic feet depending on seating configuration). That’s a lot of space, but the towing capacity gives you the option of just towing the extras behind you.

We suggest the upper trim levels for the more robust Entune™ infotainment system. Not only will you have your tunes and applications, you can get traffic, navigation, and more. It’s perfect for your next adventure.

Buying a 2018 Toyota 4Runner
