2019 Toyota C-HR from Keyes Toyota in Los Angeles
2019 Toyota C-HR: the Compact Crossover, Evolved
Last year saw the first genuinely new Toyota SUV to arrive at Keyes Toyota in a few years. The 2019 Toyota C-HR follows up with some new features to match a design that still feels fresh. Here’s what we like about it, and whether a test drive is worth your while.
2019 Toyota C-HR Details
- Engine: 2.0-liter engine
- Power: 144 horsepower, 139 lb-ft torque
- Transmission: CVT
- MPG: 27/31/29 (city/highway/combined)
If ever a crossover was built for city dwellers, the 2019 Toyota C-HR is it. It combines the looks of a small coupe with the volume of a small SUV, and strikes just the right balance of efficiency and agility.
This year the trim lineup expands by two, so you can choose among the new LE base trim, last year’s XLE and XLE Premium trims, and a new Limited trim. The Limited gets the updated and upgraded Entune 3.0 Premium infotainment system, power lumbar support, appearance upgrades, and leather seats.
2019 Toyota C-HR Safety and Special Features
Like most new Toyota cars, the Toyota C-HR is built on the TNGA platform, and includes both the Toyota STAR safety system and Toyota Safety Sense as standard equipment. There’s no crash test data yet for this year’s model, but given the structural and mechanical similarity to last year, we’d anticipate a repeat of the five-star NHTSA safety rating.
There isn’t much new in terms of comfort and convenience features, but those of us who are tethered to our phones will love the upgraded Entune infotainment system. Not only does it respond quicker, it also supports Apple CarPlay.
- Lane Departure Warning
- Pedestrian Detection
- Full-Speed Dynamic Cruise Control
- Blind Spot Monitoring
- Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
Buying a 2019 Toyota C-HR
The 2019 C-HR is a very good crossover, especially if you’re in the habit of braving city traffic. However, it’s not all things to everyone; if you want all-wheel drive or more interior volume, you’re better off stepping up to another SUV at your Toyota dealership near Los Angeles, like the Toyota RAV4. That said, this is still a strong contender, so visit Keyes Toyota at 5855 Van Nuys Blvd in Van Nuys, CA for a closer look and a test drive to see how it works for you.
