2019 Toyota Corolla: Still Surprising After All These Years
Why do so many Los Angeles car buyers opt for the Toyota Corolla? For one thing, history; it’s had more than five decades to prove its dependability, value, and worth. For another, it’s not just a good value. It’s a darn good car. After last year’s redesign, it arrives for model year 2019 mostly unchanged, but the one change is huge. We’ll get into that in a moment, or you can visit Keyes Toyota and be surprised.
2019 Toyota Corolla Details
- 132 hp four-cylinder engine (XLE, LE, SE, XSE)
- 140 hp four-cylinder engine (LE Eco)
- Transmissions; Six-speed manual or CVT
- MPG: 27 City / 35 Highway
The 2019 Toyota Corolla has 97.1 cubic feet of cabin space. It’s a compact that doesn’t feel like one. It’s also more stylish than before, borrowing some of its design cues from the equally-popular Toyota Camry. Trims, powertrains, and options all carry over from 2018.
That doesn’t mean nothing’s new. The Toyota Corolla Hatchback is all-new this year. It migrates to the same TNGA platform used by its sedan sibling, but its styling is different enough that we can’t help but wonder if it’s a preview of either a refreshed or next-generation version of the sedan.
Both body styles continue with the same strengths that define this model and new Toyota cars generally. Fuel economy is excellent, reliability should remain off-the-charts good, and it remains a great buy whether this is your first new car or if you’re an old hand at driving in LA traffic.
2019 Toyota Corolla Safety and Special Features
Toyota Safety Sense is standard equipment these days, and build quality has always been good. So even though the IIHS and NHTSA haven’t rated the car yet, the TSS, STAR safety system, and robust build quality ensure a safe drive.
As for technology, we still like the responsive Toyota Entune infotainment system. You get the capability of the big smartphone companies’ systems, just minus the brand names. The driver information display is also a nice touch, since it goes more in-depth than an old-fashioned dashboard.
- Toyota Entune Infotainment System
- Toyota STAR Safety Suite
- Toyota Safety Sense driver assist aids
- and much, much more…
