The Toyota Sequoia was the first full-sized Japanese SUV available in the States, and in some ways the current model at Keyes Toyota shares a lot in common with its predecessor. It’s huge, and has traditional SUV body on frame construction. However, for Los Angeles drivers who expect more out of their SUV, no other vehicle will do.
2017 Toyota Sequoia Details
The 2017 Toyota Sequoia winds down the SUV’s second generation with minimal changes from the 2016 model. It comes in the same SR5, Limited, and Platinum trims, each with rear-wheel drive standard or four-wheel drive optional.
The standard engine runs on gas, but the same engine — tuned for E85 Flex Fuel — is also available (it comes standard on the Platinum trim). All models get the same six-speed automatic transmission.
That size and power comes with certain advantages.
- Comfortable seating for up to eight passengers
- 18.9 to 120.1 cubic feet of cargo volume depending on the seating arrangements.
- 7,000 to 7,400 pounds of towing capacity
2017 Toyota Sequoia Special Features
All versions of the 2017 Toyota Sequoia come standard with ToyotaCare maintenance and roadside assistance, as well as the STAR Safety System.
The best optional features — like a rear-seat Blu-Ray player with a nine-inch display, premium Entune infotainment system with JBL Audio, and wireless headphone jacks — can be found on the Limited trim, but we suggest spending extra for the Platinum trim, where you’ll get those features and more as standard equipment.
Buying a 2017 Toyota Sequoia
The next-generation Toyota Sequoia is due in 2018, so you may be wondering whether to buy now or wait. We expect some changes, but aside from Toyota TSS being a standard feature, the rest is conjecture. The 2017 Toyota Sequoia has a proven track record, and it’s a great buy if you need a new Toyota SUV you can rely on anywhere and under nearly any circumstances.
