The Toyota Tacoma has been setting the standard to beat for years, and it is looking to set a new standard that’s even higher. You get lots of choices for powertrain, cab, and cargo arrangements, and you can even get it manual if you’re the type of driver who likes to stay in control. And, of course, it comes with Toyota’s legendary quality and tech.

Toyota Tacoma Built for Off-Road Adventures

Choose Your Powertrain

Every Tacoma has an i-FORCE 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that can throw out 228 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque: unless you get the AT models, which make some adjustments to up the horsepower to 278 and the torque to 317. Go for the manual transmission, and you’ll get 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque and be able to take the towing capacity from 3,500 pounds to 6,400. The AT models can tow up to 6,500 pounds.

There are other choices you can make if you want to go off-road, like getting the automatic limited-slip differential or a 4WDemand part-time 4-Wheel Drive system. And if you want to go hybrid, get the hybrid powertrain with the i-FORCE 2.4-liter engine and bump your torque to 465 and your horsepower to 326.

Stay Found and Entertained

The Tacoma’s Toyota Audio Multimedia display is eight inches in the base trim and 14 inches in higher trims or if you get the option for it. You’ll never get lost with this, as it’ll display driving directions and give you instant wireless compatibility with your Apple or Android phone. You’ll be able to stay entertained with the apps and music, and if you want to make it a more luxurious experience, get the JBL 10-speaker audio system that comes with a FLEX portable Bluetooth speaker you can take with you camping.

Take It All With You

Going off-road usually means taking stuff with you, and the Tacoma’s deck rail system makes that system. Choose from a five- or six-foot bed. Either one will have tie-down cleats and fixed tie-down points for securing cargo. You can also take cargo inside. The XtraCab seats two, while the Double Cab seats five. The first has a fold-flat passenger seat for more space and a lockable deep storage compartment. The latter has a 60/40 split-folding rear seat  and under-seat storage.

Stay Safe With Toyota Safety Sense 3.0

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 comes standard on every truck and makes going off-road even safer. You get a Pre-Collision System that scans the road ahead for vehicles and pedestrians and warns you if a collision is predicted. It can also engage emergency braking for you. You also get Proactive Driving Assist, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and a lot more.
