All-Electric 2025 Toyota bZ4X

Toyota came out strong with the compact, all-electric, 2025 Toyota bZ4X SUV. If you’re looking for an electric SUV that offers plenty of space, good driving range, and lots of power, this one is the model to beat.

Let’s start with the basics. The base trim is the XLE, and it comes with a single electric motor that gives you 201 hp and 196 pound-feet of torque. It comes standard in front-wheel drive and has a 252-mile driving range and a 71.4 kW battery. It takes about 9.5 hours to charge with a Level Two charger, which is quite a bit faster than other electric SUVs. And if you go to a DC fast charging station, you can get up to 80% of your charge in just 30 minutes.

But you can get more. There’s an optional dual-motor all-wheel-drive version, and if you choose this, you’re going to get 214 hp and a huge increase in torque: up to 248 pound-feet. Charging times remain similar, and all trims come with regenerative braking so you can recoup as much energy as possible while you drive.

Features to Love

Drive Modes

Every model of this SUV comes with two drive modes standard: Normal and Eco. Normal is perfect for most driving situations, and Eco is what you want if you’re on a longer drive or not in a hurry. If you get the XLE with front-wheel drive, then there’s also a Snow drive mode that will help you stay safe in those slick and wet winter conditions.

If you go for the all-wheel drivetrain, then Toyota equips the bZ4X with something called X-MODE. This gives you three more modes to choose from. There’s Snow/Dirt, Deep Snow/Mud, and Grip Control, so there’s really no situation where you’re not going to be prepared.

Comfort in the Cabin

A number of features make this a smooth and enjoyable ride. First, there’s the dual-zone automatic climate control setting with rear seat vents so second-row passengers can stay comfortable. The driver gets an eight-way, power-adjustable seat that has lumbar support, and there’s a fixed glass panoramic roof with a power sunshade as well as soft-touch surfaces everywhere. The bZ4X’s e-TNGA platform also makes sure the ride is stable and smooth the whole way.

Latest in Technology

We love the enormous 12.3-inch screen that runs Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen and has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless connectivity. There’s a backup camera, a blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking assist with automatic braking, and a trial subscription to Toyota’s Connected Services.
